Angie's
Biography
Angie Thompson is an award-winning composer and audio editor who combines different musical elements to create the perfect mood that helps tell the story. Her style ranges from quirky and fun to mysterious and magical. She combines modern pop/rock with classical to create a unique score or track (such as pairing an electric guitar with an erratic string pattern to create energy to underscore action and adventure). Her music production and composition skills were honed while completing a Master’s Certificate in Orchestrating Music for Film & T.V and a Specialist Certificate in Music Production through Berkleemusic (Berklee College of Music). Keeping melodies simple, chord structures uncomplicated, and instrumental elements pared down, her music also fits well as music in scene and source music.
Angie’s compositions are often used as music in scene or as source music. That jazz band playing in the background of a night club or wedding reception might be Angie’s jazz band compositions (upright, drums, guitar, piano). Or a pop song coming from the mall speakers or passing car might be one of Angie’s songs with a male or female vocalist. She produces a variety of mixes, giving a single song as much life as possible.
Her interest in audio editing and sound design began as a young girl recording her own foley and audio edits and engineering her own recorded productions (quite an accomplishment for a youngster growing up in the 60’s). Her years behind the sound board, experience in the editing bay, and professional training, equips her to take a project from average to award winning.
Music credits include short films, radio music beds, music for animated logos, websites music, corporate presentations, and music used in French television programs. Her audio editing skills have also been used by independent film makers across the country. She has served as audio editor, sound designer, foley artist, music supervisor, and final film mixer for film and recorded books.
Angie understands the “power of collaboration” and is an effective listener, enabling the project to reach its intended goal. Angie Thompson started Door No. 3 Music as a registered domain name in 1999.
